Anybody know where up to date information can be found concerning the fires?
Wink News Live on TV is about the only place where there is anything at all and that's not much .
The Greenway fire was only mentioned in passing and concentration mostly seems to be on the smoke/visibility on Alligator Alley.
The Florida Fire Service map isn't loading this morning.

Thank you, Corrie, but there was nothing much there.
Anyone else have any idea?

not sure if this is what you want, but what i've been using is:
Florida Forest Service

Man, the local news here sucks - filming their cell phone screen, or filming a Skype session on their PC monitor - they do know that be sent directly into the camera instead don't they?

Yes, nightOwl. I 'm not signed up with Twitter but my daughter found that for me and it seems it's probably the best source.

to regular Naples posters,
my family and I will be attending a conference in Naples next week - is the current fire situation controlled? affecting air quality/breathing?
from the local webcams, I cannot see any visible smoke - however, the Naples airport weather station is reporting 84 degrees and "smoke"
the current forecast calls for showers Sat into Sunday - is this expected to help? (doesn't look like a lot of steady rain)

They are still burning. We can smell them in North Naples, but no visible smoke today. It depends on the wind conditions.

One of the fires is getting close to under control. We still have another month or so of dry season, so there's a good chance that there will be some burning while you're here.
