I agree on not commuting from MJ.

You are adopting a baby? Or an older child? A baby won't need to a good school for 5-6 years. I would consider Faux Brentwood. Church Street/Cloverland, the road that runs through Brentwood & Maryland Farms- has a bunch of newer neighborhoods in your price range. That area has a Brentwood address. You can find it by searching Real Tracs-37027 in Davidson County. It is right next to Williamson Co. Brentwood, so you are right there for shopping, restaurants, etc. If he is working in Maryland Farms, he would be just 5-10 minutes from work. Straight out of the neighborhood onto Cloverland and then he's in Maryland Farms.
Even if you are still there in 6 years, the elementary school for that area is Granbery and it's a great school. Your real problems would start in Jr. high, and you are a long way from that.

Nolensville is also nice, and you could look at Franklin, Spring Hills (Williamson side only) and Thompson Station.

You will love Nashville. I grew up in Memphis and we have really enjoyed living here so much!

I drove everyday from Hermitage down to Brentwood and it wasn't terrible. Nashville traffic isn't as bad as Memphis traffic. It isn't grand, but not nearly as bad. I would highly recommend living in Franklin if you can though. I lived there for a while as well, and loved it! Easy commute to Brentwood, safe, and great schools.

my post should say "Spring Hill" not "Spring Hills" I don't where the "s" came from and I can't revise it now.

I appreciate all of the feedback!

We were looking at Mt. Juliet because we saw some nice, new homes in that area that were good size. Also from what I have read, it has pretty much everything right there too.

I hadn't considered Nolensville because I hadn't read much about it, but are all the amenities there? We like being in/near an area that has pretty much everything we will need...we don't like any type of rural-feel at all. We also don't want to be too far from the city either. Maybe we are asking for too much, LOL. We also need an area that would be fairly easy on resale as we tend to move where my husband gets better offers for his career. We have lived in 3 brand new homes in 3 cities since 2004 and if a better offer comes along, we consider it and will relocate. However, we are hoping to eventually find the perfect one so we can stay put once we have children.

Personally, I am excited at the thought of moving to Nashville because it has to be better than Memphis...this place is a crap-shoot. I am a native of St. Louis and my husband is a native Canadian (we lived outside Toronto) but we both like being in the south and away from all that snow!

I hate the stress with relocating, but love looking at houses! Hopefully we can find some areas to look at on Saturday.

We live near Nolensville but just inside Davidson County. If you look on realtracs and choose Davidson County and Brentwood as the city, you'll pull up several neighborhoods you might want to consider: Autumn Oaks, Concord Place, and Jackson Valley. The elementary and middle school in this area of Davidson are quite good. (Shayne Elementary and Oliver Middle) We are about a 12 minute drive to the actual city of Brentwood/Maryland Farms area. I would definitely drive around the area and get a feel for it. It may feel too rural for what you like, but the prices are good for new houses. Good luck! I love looking at houses too--even when I'm not the one moving!
