I am moving to Nashville in about a month and still do not have a job. I graduated 4 years ago with a journalism degree, but would love to find a job in marketing/sales, or in the meantime at a restaurant or catering business. I have alot of restaurant and hospitality experience. Where are the best places in Nashville to look for a job? Are there any specific great companies to work for? How is the job market there? I really appreciate any advice at all. Thanks!

Well, I moved here not long ago and there were many sales/ marketing job positions available. As I am not into this field, I sort of stayed away. As everyone says, the job market has not been easy for anyone. But the good thing for you is that you are "fresh", just graduated, so I am sure that this is a plus in motivation =)
Try using google and searching for companies in general and start applying for the ones you are interested, so that you can have an idea on how the responses will be. One thing that I personally feel is that companies will consider you as an employee if you are "here". So, get a TN number (you can get a google voice number) and have an address in town. If the job search is still hard, try the staffing companies. The salary cannot be as good as expected, but it does put you on the market while searching for something better.
Good luck =)

There are a lot of sales jobs, but there are also tons of people competing for them. If you land one and are good at it, it should be fairly stable, but don't expect them to keep you on to watch you blossom into the perfect sales person if you are not hitting home runs on every deal. Depends on what you're selling, but in this economy, sales isn't that easy. It takes talent to sell someone something they don't need and can't afford.
