Hello,

I tried to find something on the internet but without any luck so far.
My Godson (13) is visiting me from Germany and he would like to learn Baseball.
Does anyone know a place in south Nashville? Maybe a private group?

Thank you

Actually yes, there is a great place in Airpark Center called Hit After Hit, it's filled with batting cages & they give hitting lessons as well. Here's the website: http://www.hitafterhitonline.com/instructors.php

Is that something like what you're looking for? Or are you looking for more in depth instruction about how to actually play the game itself? If you're wanting him to learn the fundamentals of the game itself then I'd try to find him a good book that he can read on the plane ride over & then take him to the batting cages so he can actually make contact with the ball.

Thank you but I thought more of a group with beginners. Something like a group of dads with their sons or daughters where they meet on a field.
I hope you know what I mean.

From my experience, baseball is pretty competitive around here. I think you'll be hard pressed to find other kids in his age range that are beginners. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't have any children yet so I'm not in that world right now. But I grew up around my brother that played a pretty intense travel team schedule for many years & at 13 those kids had been playing a long time & knew the game backwards & forwards.

I'm not saying what you're looking for isn't out there, I just don't know about it & can't offer any suggestions.

I agree with Courtney, at that age most kids are very well developed into the game. That said, I think her idea of the hitting instructor is a good one. I am sure they can also give lessons on fielding and other parts of the game. Probably the best way to learn is by watching, though. I don't know when he is coming, if it is soon Vanderbilt will still be playing baseball. They have a beautiful facility. The Nashville Sounds will start here in a few days...and it is a little more traditional (wooden bats) but the stadium isn't the best in the world. Or you could drive to Cincinnati (4 hours) or Atlanta (4 hours) to watch a MLB game.

He always wants to play and learn it and since I live here he wants it even more. (I am American but raised in Germany. Thats why my Godson is from Germany) He loves this country and is learning English like there is nothing else to learn right now.

He is very excited and can't wait till school vacation.
