I might be relocating from Houston Texas area to Franklin in the next few months due to job realignment at Verizon Wireless. Looking for a decent and safe place to move.
What's life like in Franklin?
I am looking to spend less than $700 a month, with $700 being absolutely the highest.
Just need one bedroom.
I'm in my early 30's like running and nature.
However location is not that important.

Man this one stuns me to the point of laughter. I own a rent house in "Katy", actually in Ft. Bend Co, the Sundown subdivision just north of the Fry Rd Walmart. It's no mystery that Katy proper historically was a wide place on Hwy 90, literally, and no real downtown even now, that you can say anything significant about. Historically Franklin was something entirely different, one of the richest cities in Tennessee prior to the civil war, and has the historical footprint to prove it. There was an inter-urban railway from there to Nashville in the early part of last century. People from all over the metro go to Franklin for various events, and the town is a site for films and video shoots, based on its character and appearance, with an actual downtown. And the town gets plenty of tourist exposure spilling over from its big neighbor to the north, I met a woman in Denver who had visited Carnton Plantation. Can you imagine anyone in Houston suggesting on the Houston board for tourists to go and check out Katy? Franklin also is headquarters to large companies like Nissan, Clarcor, Community Health, Healthways and many others, in other words a revamped version of its 19th century identity. The OP mentioned Verizon, who employ 1000 persons in Franklin proper. Katy proper is headquarters to what? I have to laugh again, maybe a couple of churches. BTW I like Katy, mainly because of its small town residential feel, right next to a giant freeway, its namesake. But Franklin it is not. Not even close.

Hey thx, was aware of Franklin at a young age, growing up in West Meade; my mom and other moms would take us swimming over there at Willow Plunge. Which I believe was ripped up ca 1966. Franklin a little sleepy place at that time, I think hardly anyone dreamed it would morph into its present status.

Lost my last living parent a year ago, so early memories of the region more precious than ever. Which is why I post here more than to the Houston board.

I think if you want to spend less than $700 you probably should look for a house share/roommate situtation.
