Hello Nashville board! I usually lurk on the Atlanta board, but since I decided to attend school at Middle Tennessee State University in the fall, I've been looking more and more at how life is the Nashville Metro, especially in Murfreesboro. I had a question on the use of public transportation.

Basically, is it easy to use the bus systems of Murfreesboro and Nashville? Does anybody have any experience with them? Would you use the bus system for travel in Murfreesboro and is it possible to go between there and Nashville? I know much about the systems except that here are two separate bus lines in each city. I don't really know a lot!

Thank you guys for helping me out in advance!

Here's the bus that connects the two cities: http://www.nashvillemta.org/maps/route96.pdf

I don't know about the service in M'boro but Nashville has decent coverage with MTA. The timing, however, can be frustrating. You'll also find that the bus has a fairly bad reputation in Nashville and most people will avoid it at all costs. Having a car is definitely the most convenient way to travel here. Nashville has zipcars around Vanderbilt; I'm not sure about Murfreesboro, though.

Murfreesboro also has a bus shuttle service between a lot of the apartment complexes. It's called the Raider Xpress:

Thank you guys so much! This will really come in handy when I come in the fall. It also sounds like owning a car is the way to go!
