Is the neighborhood that TSU is in dangerous or pretty safe? I know its poor an mostly black but that doesn't scare me away is it an area known for gangs and violence or is it pretty chill?

It is definitely known for high crime and gang activity. Some nearby neighborhoods that would be better include Germantown/Salemtown to the East and Sylvan Park/Sylvan Heights to the west. Both of these are very close to TSU but without as many of the crime problems and negative reputation.

There's also an area called Hope Gardens that is slowly up and coming and has became home to a lot of African American young professionals and urban pioneers looking to restore the Jefferson St corridor to its better days.
