Annie Ierardi works from home in a Nashville, Tennessee, building that’s adding apartments as waves of young workers flock to a city flush with jobs, music and ambition. Amid noise and disruption, she can’t imagine leaving.

“I love it here,” Ierardi, 25, said in a telephone interview, talking over the racket of construction on the floor above. “There are so many different neighborhoods so close to each other, the people are friendly and you can go to a show every night. I say yes to everything.”

I would argue that the $1,377 average rent in the Gulch is not double what is typical in the city...only if added government assisted housing...

More good press for Nashville! Certainly is the "it city" as I've heard people calling it lately.

Congrats Middle Tennessee on the national high profile attainment. I have to ask is the gulch really 30 acres and not at least 2~3x that? Maybe the stated acreage is only what is being/has been redeveloped.

At least the Bloomberg writer, himself from a high tax state, mentioned the low tax draw of TN. Now if you can just get rid of the privacy invasion known as tax on dividends that would be a nice step. State government down here knows nothing of my finances beyond what the appraisal districts have on file.

The area with the most intense development is about 30 acres. The Gulch (as defined by the city) is 89 acres, and includes everything west of the RR tracks, and everything east/north of the interstate loop, and south of Broadway.
