we are relocating and looking for recommendations on specific areas to look for our new home. Husband will be working near Grassmere and kids will be going to school in Green Hills. Aside from Green Hills, any suggestions on family friendly neighborhoods that would allow for an easy commute to both??? priority is easy commuting as well as safe and close knit community. We have heard how much east nashville is/has changing - although we would love to be in a walkable area (coming from NY), the crime maps around east nashville make me uneasy with 2 young kids. Thank you

Anything in Brentwood near the I-65 should be pretty easy commuting wise but not really "walkable". Berry Hill might be an option for you.

Or 12 South.

"Walkable" will always be a challenge in Nashville because of a lack of sidewalks in (what used to be) the outlying areas where you are looking.

What is your budget?

There are parts of Green Hills that are walkable, but there are definitely more walkable neighborhoods inside 440. Check out 12South, Edgehill Village, Belmont-Hillsboro, and Hillsboro-West End. If you're ok traveling a bit further for school and work the check out Lockeland Springs, Edgefield, And surrounding neighborhoods in East Nashville. Also check out Sylvan Park.

Of course this all depends on budget too. What price range are you dealing with?

I'd check out the Creve Hall area too.

You'll be able to get a nice house for that. Easily a 3/2 and should be able to find a 4/2 or 4/3. There will be some new construction homes out there in your price range as well more historic early 1900s houses that have been maintained well.
