DH is contemplating on taking a job in Brentwood, TN. We have 2 yr old b/g twins and a 9 1/2 yr DS. He is currently in a "talented development" class in 4th grade. We are looking for same and possible schools right in subdivisions (if they exist). We also like to put the twins in the Double Jane Powertwin and walk to nearby stores (if they exist). Finally, we like a community pool and/or clubhouse, etc. in subdivison.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moving again... from Charlotte, NC.

Gail

Default schools, living, shopping

Well, you're a few years too early There is a new project still in drawing stage called the Brentwood Town Center. It will encompass retail, office, residential, civic within 45 acres. I know the plans aren't finalized, but I do believe there has been talk of a school also. It's part of a New Urbanism plan that may take 8 years or more to develop.

I don't know that you were talking about something like that, but there wouldn't be any other options in Brentwood where you could take the stroller from your house to nearby shops. There are quite a few neighborhoods across the street or really near the elementary schools though...

Kenrose is across from Highland Park and Oak Hall subdivisions. Raintree Forest is about 1/2 a mile away.

Edmonson Elementary is across from the back entrance of Chenoweth.

Crockett Elementary is across the street from Somerset.

Fieldstone Farms in Franklin does have their own Elementary school within the walls of the subdivision, but you had asked about Brentwood specifically.

As far as elementary schools go, Brentwood probably teaches all classes at a high or gifted level. When they get into Middle schools and high school there are usually 3 different placements there.

I forgot. Scales Elementary is near The Highlands and close to Belle Rive subdivisions.

There are quite a few additional subdivisions and many of them have pools and other amenities, but of the ones I listed above:

Somerset has a pool, playground and tennis courts.
Chenoweth has a playground, clubhouse, pool and tennis courts. Again,
Raintree Forest has a playground, park, clubhouse, pool, tennis courts and wildlife preservation areas.

I have a Jane Powertwin and love it... but that is not the point of your post. We moved here from the northeast. I really wanted sidewalks and "walkability". We discovered that Brentwood wasn't big on sidewalks and neither was Nashville proper. We ended up in Franklin because there are a lot of sidewalks. We ended up buying in Westhaven which is just starting to build its "town center" with a grocery store and other smaller store, doctors' offices, etc. The county has accepted land to build an elementary school but that is probably at least 5 years out. Depending on your price point you might look at Westhaven or McKay's Mill (both are planned urban developments) with club houses and swimming pools.
