Ok, on a not so serious matter, we have been here 1 month now and I have never ever seen so many Lawyer commercials in my life!
It does appear to me that the amount of auto accidents are out of control here, is this why?

BTW these are some of the worst commercials I've ever seen! Lol

It reminds me of South Florida. Attorneys everywhere.

You're not alone. I, for one, would be thrilled if I never had to see another one of those ridiculous commercials for Bart Durham.

The Bart Durham commercials are inspired works of art. I will not be convinced otherwise.

The number of auto accidents daily and just bad drivers was one of the first things I noticed when I moved here.

It sounds cliche when people claim things like "people in (your city here) can't drive"....but seriously, people in Nashville can't drive.

Questions - how many people in the metro area are from somewhere else like I was when I was there? Roughly. Also how many people there are first generation locals?

Really curious since I lived there 3 times and this bad driver thing was not part of the culture when I was there.

Since I'm getting pretty sensitive to the mob action phenomena streaking all around U.S. culture now, including a renewed resentment towards the south (only one of many mob resentments wrecking the nation) I'm wondering if you guys on here mostly grew up outside TN or the south.

I grew up in Mt. Juliet but have lived twice in Southern California and once in South Florida. I'm only 30, so from like.....2001 to 2005....I wasn't doing a lot of "adult commuting". From a lot of 2005-2007 I was commuting from Mt. Juliet to Cool Springs so I drove interstates almost daily. It wasn't that bad then from what I recall, I just notice it now. But I do know that Nashville has a LOT of people who didn't grow up here these days.

I think I see what you're getting at...it's not that Nashvillians can't drive, its the transplants!

Native Nashvillian here. Drivers are bad here. But they are in every other metro I've ever visited or conversed with...sort of a universal phenomenon.

And, really, when you visit third world countries you gain a much greater appreciation for our driving habits. And things like working traffic signals, and people who actually pay attention to them.
