I am looking to buy a house in Brentwood, TN. I like the Brooksfield subdivision, off of Concord. After doing some research, I found out that it looks like the subdivision was built on an old burial ground, "Brooks Cemetery." Google gives very little information on this, but there are some references to it. The city-data link below even lists it:

Brentwood, Tennessee (TN) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders

Could someone please provide any information on this?

Thank you.

Hi "Penny"...

I think you may be referring to a cemetery that is still located there, but it is before the entrance to Brookfield subdivision from both Sunset and Concord Pass.

Nashville and the surrounding areas were home to some of the bloodiest battles during the civil war, so there are consequently cemetaries all over the place...along interstates, at street corners, in subdivisions (they build the development around the cementary in some cases). It's part of the "charm" of Nashville, I think. Lots of history here to check out when you arrive!

By the way, Brookfield is a beautiful subdivision...large lots (1/2 acre) and beautiful homes...and they even left some mature trees.

My realtor told me that pretty much every (newer) subdivision in metro Nashville is built on an old family farm which means that there is a cemetary somewhere, it's just a matter if you can still see it or not
