It takes FOREVER for the thing to load-most times I just give up on it...and this happens to me on different connections which are fast broadband...when they were on the old page layout, it was really fast to load. Not new and improved if you ask me, wondering if it's just me noticing this?

I rarely visit the Tennessean website but just out of curiosity I checked it out. It is a tad slow; I suspect because of it automatically loading their slideshow.

It took maybe ten to fifteen seconds for me to bring up the main page.

just tried it again...two minutes and still loading-nothing showing up on screen...maybe it's because this work computer doesn't have a lot of ram...I'm getting more soon so we'll see if that makes a difference.

It didn't take anywhere near that long for me. It's was slow, but not that slow.

It is slower than it used to be with the new format. I guess the new format is OK. I don't think they post as many real news stories now with this new look. It's seems more about how the page looks than the news but that seems to be the direction many on-line news sites are taking.

Took about 10 seconds w/AT&T DSL.

When I use Firefox with the "No Script" Add On, The Tennessean actually "locks up the browser" for about 20 seconds. Firefox gives me a warning about "cross scripting" on The Tennessean site, which I assume are the comments readers make on each stories. And these comments are about the only reason I go to The Tennessean site. Some of the posters are hilarious!

Internet Explorer loads The Tennessean with little or no problems, but it still takes about 15 seconds on AT&T DSL.

I like their old format much better.

Well, on my ATT DSL it now takes about 10 seconds...I'm thinking there is some conflict with my work computer system and the site that causes it to never load at work-maybe the content filter gets tripped up on it or something...

It could be your antivirus or spam guard slowing it down. When they changed the page layout it did slow it down some. As alleycat mentioned, things like the slideshow, etc. cause those types of problems.
