And don't forget that some places here in Tennessee have biscuits and CHOCOLATE gravy! I always thought that sounded disgusting, I would imagine something like chicken gravy mixed with chocolate. But it's not that at all, it's really more like chocolate pudding over hot buttered biscuits.

And speaking of breakfasts, UK-Swiss you MUST go to Pancake Pantry when you get to Nashville. It is a Nashville institution. People wait in line forever to eat there, and for good reason.

Even though I live 180 miles (300km ) from Nashville, I love the place. I used to live there years ago. It's a beautiful city full of wonderful, friendly people. While I wish it had better public transportation, it's still a city that can boast a lot of things that world-class cities should have: a great symphony hall, large art museums, a thriving live theater community, professional sports, lots of public parks, a well-funded public library system, a lively city center, prestigious universities, and lots and lots of places for music concerts of all sorts.

I hope you love Nashville as much as I do!

And what the heck, here are some pics of some of the things I'm talking about:

Schermerhorn Symphony Center:

Frist Center for the Visual Arts:

Cheekwood Arts Center and Botanical Garden:

Centennial Park:

Warner Parks:

Radnor Lake State Natural Area:

Nashville Main Public Library:

Nashville Predators professional hockey:

Tennessee Titans professional football (American football, of course):

Vanderbilt University:

Belmont University:

2nd Ave Downtown:

Pancake Pantry:

...And lots and lots of awesome live music:

I think they like Europeans! At least they seem to like my Swiss spouse. The only thing is many of the natives seem to get Switzerland and Sweden mixed up. We laugh it off now, but it really used to bother my husband to have to clarify that he's not Swedish.

thank you for your answers!

I'm not a native Nashvillian, but I personally love Europe. I think Europeans would only possibly run into problems in the more rural areas of TN.

What kind of food do you cook in Nashville?
Oooh, do you ever do Raclette?

We had a couple of friends from France visit with us for a few days. They absolutely loved all the live music (we went to Tootsie's) and the dancing at Wildhorse.
