I have a friend that is relocating to Nashville from Saint Louis in the spring who will be working at Trinity Ln. and I64. She is a single bi racial female who enjoys outdoor concerts and cultural events. She also needs information on safe affordable apartments to lease where the commute wouldn't be too bad.

I am interested in hearing about the social opportunity in the area as well. If there are anyothers that have made the move please advise on how to make the adjustment.

If nobody gets back to you on this, there are a lot of threads covering the exact same topics and you could do a search for those. I'm no help because I'm new to the area too. Good Luck to your friend!

That's not far from Hermitage, Hendersonville or Mt. Juliet. I'm not intimately familiar with that are, but from driving through every now and then, I don't think I'd want to live there. I could be wrong. There could be some nice neighborhoods hidden off of Trinity Rd. in the area. Anyone?

I think that you will find that Nashville is a very easy city to commute around. There are several apartments and privately owned buildings around the city. Any apartment guides online would be a good source for information. If you find some of that info and want to ask about specific complexes please let me know and I will be glad to advise as there are certain areas that she would want to stay clear of.

Where is she going to be working?

Nashville is loaded with social activities as well. If you have specific interest I will gladly offer information about that too.

Default update

My friend has been in Nashville for almost a year now and has adjusted just fine. She is loving the slower pace and laidback lifestyle and has not had a problem with meeting people like she thought.

I saw the dates on the original post (1/4/2009) and thought it was 2010, so I was a bit confused after reading the last few posts... Glad she likes Nashvegas!

Have them out Inglewood. It's near Trinity Lane, lot's of music professional's/artists live there and is a culturally diverse area. But beware of the large apartment complexes in the area (check Craigs List for a rental house or 2nd floor apt). Some areas in Inglewood are well established and other's are more in the "up and coming" category. Pretty sure your friend would love East Nashville/Inglewood but if she doesn't know anyone in the area she might want to rent in Donelson or a nicer complex in Madison (make sure to check) until she makes connections and makes friends. Good luck.

Inglewood and many parts of East Nashville are really getting swanky... no kidding. I saw some great houses that had been rehabbed and looked very nice. It's also a mixed income and race area. Lots of potential there too, with great pre-WWII brick and stone houses.
