I choose Publix whenever possible, mostly because of their wonderful customer service.

But Kroger isn't horrible or anything...it's fine.

On average, Publix is probably 12-18% more expensive.

Than Kroger? Gotta disagree. I'm pretty frugal, and if there were that much difference, I wouldn't drive out of my way to go to a Publix.

I can think of 3 specific items that are on my weekly grocery list and they are cheaper at Publix than at Krogers and those are every day prices. So I guess it depends on what you shop. Walmart is generally cheapest but they're selection is limited.

No way. For stuff like canned goods, cereal, bread, milk, etc., Publix and Kroger are very comparable in price. Publix's meats and produce are slightly higher, but they are of a much higher quality than what you can find at Kroger.

I see no real reason to shop at Kroger. You can find the same prices at Publix but a much higher quality, and you can find the same quality at Wal-Mart for a much lower price.

I've never been happy with Walmart groceries. Shopping there makes me grumpy! LOL

I far prefer Publix. The people/customer service is so much better at Publix. The Kroger on Murfreesboro in Franklin is downright depressing. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

For years people here in Knoxville have been lobbying for Publix to come to town. Kroger is ok, but Publix is superior in just about every way. I particularly like the fact that you don't have to have one of those ridiculous member cards in order to get sales prices at Publix.

When I lived in Atlanta I would drive past two Krogers to shop at Publix. Then Publix continued to expand and now has well over 150 stores in the Atlanta area whereas Kroger stagnated. Clearly Publix is popular.

Publix seems to have a very loyal following, something I don't see as much with Kroger shoppers.

Once the Publix opens up near you and near Kroger, they will probably being having competitive prices.

Publix has some good sales and items/brands I can't find in Kroger. I think Kroger overall may be less expensive.

I love Publix. I like that someone is always willing to help when you need it (and not look so put out in doing so). Also, i think that the Publix generic items are far better than Kroger, but that is just me.
