Are the Farmer's Market and the Bicentennial Mall Park the same thing? What are they - what would you do/what is there to see at both of those places? Could you spend a couple of hours there during this part of the year?

The Farmers Market is right beside the Bicentennial Mall Park. The farmers Market is a place where vendors sell all sorts of things, kind of like an upscale flea market. The Bicentennial Mall is a sort of monument to history. There are monuments depicting different milestones in world, US and TN history. It's an interesting place. You could easily spend a couple hours between the two.

Two different venues and both are a blast in good weather. Yes, you could easily spend a few hours in the park on your own, with bunches of friends, or through one of the many spring/summer events. Farmer's Market too: Nashville Farmers Market

Both the Mall and the Farmer's Market are busier during the warmer months, but if it's not too bad of a day, you could enjoy a couple of hours there just strolling around. During this time of year there's not so much to "do" at the Mall, but more of a pleasant place to just walk around and "be".

There are a few places to eat inside part of the Farmer's Market (try Swett's).

Which of the two venues would be better to visit this afternoon for my wife and baby for about two hours while I am at a meeting?

They're side-by-side; visit one and you visit the other, more or less. There's no need to choose between them.

I looked them both up on google maps, and they say they are about a mile apart. Is that not true? It says one is on 8th Ave North and the other is along the river. Please help.

Not true. The mall is on one side of the street and the Farmers Market is on the other. Just cross the street to get from one to the other.

Google is wrong then. The Farmer's Market and the Bicentennial Mall are both off of 8th Avenue North (which has been renamed to Rosa Parks Blvd), just down the hill from the state capital building.

Trust me on this one, I work about two miles from the Mall.
