hello all, I have been reading this forum for a few days and it seems to be a good way to get alot of answers, and some truth. Here's my situation, I live in Cincinnati, Ohio -- and I am a college student and my boyfriend's company is relocating him to Nashville, we are looking for an affordable place to live and within decent distance to the city where he'll be working -- although very southern part of the city -- and close enough that MTSU in murfreesboro that I will be attending isn't too far of a drive... We are visiting the area for the FIRST TIME EVER next week, so we have literally NO IDEA what we're getting into...

An agency sent me a list of places in Antioch however i've read some scary things about the area, and we are not looking for drug dealers as neighbors ever again.. THe complex that I liked there include: arbor hills, nashboro village, The Summit, and Mission Hickory.. are these all in the "bad area"??

I was told murfreesboro was "really expensive" although i've heard it's a nicer area.. any advice on where to look would be GREAT.

We aren't loving apartment life, but we cant buy a house right now -- renting a house or nic etownhome would be nice, but a NICE apartment complex with space would be great. Thanks again!

Scratch every one of those apartment complexes off your list unless you speak fluent Spanish and little to no English. If he will be working in South Nashville and you will be attending MTSU, look in Smyrna or Murfreesboro. Whoever told you that renting in M'boro is expensive is dead wrong; there are some complexes near the Interstate that rival Antioch prices, without the high crime, drugs, gangs, and illegals.

There are definitely areas in Northern Rutherford County such as Lavergne and Smyrna that would put you about half way between South Nashville and MTSU. If you are concerned about Antioch, you could look just a little further west on Old Hickory Blvd between Antioch and Brentwood(we call it Brantioch). It would be convenient for both of you and give you closer proximity to downtown if you like to hit the bars and restaurants.

I will keep looking in murfreesboro cause I relaly LOVED that area, any complexes anyone can suggest????

Smyra is also on my list o fideas, i'lll keep looking.

I can suggest where my son just moved to in Murfreesboro. It is right near the interstate, Its off 96 and St Andrews drive, St Andrews Apartments. They are very nice, modern kitchens, baths, great rent! Terraces or Patios, pool, exercize room. It's really quiet! Ask for Linda

St. Andrews Apartments - Murfreesboro, TN

This is a great suggestion. Much better than any of that trash you listed in Antioch.

yea that place looks reall ynice. A little more pricey than the others, but I will give them a call. I guess were spoiled in Ohio we have a 2 bdrom and we pay 525. so its hard to imagine paying 625 and getting a one bdrm, but I guess that's moving for you.
Any other complexes that are nice would be great. I will try driving around the interstate when im down there and seeing whats close.

Pimpy is right - not sure who told you to look into Antioch and not into M’boro because of expense, but your getting bad advice. Smyrna would not be much more than just 'in between' to me, so I’d choose the Brentioch area GoGreenNashville advised, or Murfreesboro. Diane’s suggestion is a good one. Have had several clients who stayed there before making purchase and thought well of it afterwards.
