We are looking at moving into the Franklin area. Have a son who will be a freshmen next year. Some of the developments we have looked at include Westhaven, Stags Leap, Tollgate Village, etc....

Could use advice on schools (Franklin HS, Independence HS, Paige HS) and attribute of various sub-divisions. This is a lot to ask for, but we know very little about the area - except that I will start working there soon!

They're all good schools, all in the same district-WCS. Page is farther out, and is smaller. Independence is the newest. Franklin is the only high school in the district to have the IB program.

All the neighborhoods you mention are beautiful. Where will you be working?

Welcome!

They are all WCS and have good college placement. There are a good number of teenagers in Westhaven and they seem to be really good kids. Our old babysitter graduated from FHS and she is a Freshman in college out of state and she said she was very well prepared for college.

Receder40 - you might also add Creekstone Franklin (Home : Creekstone : Franklin, Tenn. (near Nashville, TN)) a compelling green builder with an excellent product; green or no green - their homes have almost no dust and excellent sound insulation - solid product in a convenient spot. WillowSprings, maybe Ladd Park.

If you don't miss the lot size, Westhaven is a special development. Just love the offerings there, and once the Mack Hatcher extension happens (main thoroughfare, traffic artery - will take years) - it could really feel pretty close to I-65 and Cool Springs.

Greatschools.net gives the edge to Page (then Independence, and Franklin) but have heard very good things about Franklin (teacher involvement/communication with parents), so you are choosing between good schools, in a great school district. Do your children have particular areas that they excel in? Or are there particular areas of education/sports/experience that are most important to your family?
