Today I had the long awaited privilege to drive from Dresden to Clarksville via Tn. 54 and U.S. 79. This region isn't often mentioned on this forum, but it is rich in scenery, history and recreational facilities. The trip was very enjoyable and I saw a good many things along the way that I hope to examine more closely when time permits. I hope that forum members who are familiar with the area will elaborate on some of the points of interest.

Ridgerunner, a nice drive indeed. Did you stop by LBL on your route? What brought you to our lovely city of Clarksville? The Tennessee State Fiddler's Championship perhaps?

No, I'm a trucker. To go from Martin to Nashville I usually take Purchase Parkway and I-24, another very scenic drive. But this time I took 54 and 79 for some new scenery and also to save about 40 miles. By the way, Clarksville has grown like a weed since I was at Ft. Campbell in the late sixties. I can't think of another town in Tennessee with such rapid growth except for maybe Murfreesboro.
