Looking around Nashville... Also some areas out a bit like Hendersonville, Smyrna, Columbia, M'Boro, Gallatin and such. We want a 3 bd with garage for 800 and under.

Columbia would be your best bet for something in that price range. Will you be commuting to Nashville for work? If so, Columbia will be a bit of a haul. Let us know if that is a factor or not.

I'm self employed, we do same/next day printing, service and sell digital office equipment and own a small advertising company. Our boys want to do JROTC and I have a detailed list of schools that offer the program so need to stay within that. My wife will work close to home in either a office or maybe retail.

Antioch has tons of crime anymore.

Not an opinion - this is well documented fact.

(and it is not alone - there are other parts of town I wouldn't send my worst enemy to)

If it's so BAD why is it safer than most of the cities in the USA?

Antioch,TN

Chicago,IL

I put Chicago in there to give you an idea of what's bad and what you think is bad. I wish Chicago was as safe as Antioch.

You act like Antioch is a WAR ZONE or something.

Compared to other suburbs of Nashville, it IS a relative war zone.

Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville, Franklin, etc... they are all safer...by a large margin.

This argument frustrates the snot out of me. Why is it when people talk about crime here, someone invariably feels the need to pipe in with "You think it's bad here? Crime here is nothing compared to Miami/Chicago/Detroit/Oakland/South Central/any other crappy, crime-infested major city in the continental US."

Thankfully, Nashville is nothing like most of those places nor do most of us want it to be. Everything is relative and relatively speaking crime in Antioch is pretty bad so stop bringing statistical data from other places to compare to here - the dynamics simply do not compare. As a society should we just accept the current level of crime because, gee whiz, it sure isn't as bad as it could be? Thank god we don't have people dying in the streets or hospital waiting room as people walk by and do nothing nor do we have kids committing suicide because they were bullied relentlessly and called "Irish scum" by classmates while school officials did nothing.

What are you doing to make it a better, safer, wholesome living environment?

How many kids have you mentored?

How often do you participate in helping the local government improve city/citizen relations?

Or do you just site on the sideline and complain like MOST people do?

You're correct, you should not accept it but you should make an attempt to offer constructive solutions.

Crime is not someone else's problem. As long are you're a citizen it's your problem too. If you do nothing, it'll eventually find you.

People never want to do anything until it shows up in their backyard. Those people deserve what they get.

Gripping about "all of the crime" does not create a better living environment for anyone. It might make you feel better but at the end of the day, what have you accomplished? Nothing.
