Luckily, the bison lost interest and walked away. Two people have been injured by bison in Yellowstone this year. I wonder if they were covered by insurance? Or was there a buffalo attack exclusion in the small print of their policy?

I remember when our house finches got that eye disease. That was a difficult thing to witness. Now I never see them. But we still do have some purple finches around.
I'm glad to announce that after a nearly twenty year absence the toads have made a return to our yard. So far we have seen three this month. They aren't very large. I hope for continued renewal. We have many dark, cozy places for them to enjoy.

I was living in N IL when West Nile showed up in full force about 20y/a. It took 10 yrs before we started seeing blue jays, cardinals and crows again, but the populations seem to have made a full recovery.
On another note, I was awakened last night by the dogs barking at something outside. I got up to see a very small snake had got up on the porch and was slithering towards the door. It pulled up short, however, and got this confused and maybe insulted look on its face. The door mat reads "WIPE YOUR PAWS." ???
