We're fumigated quarterly - inside and out - and while it keeps them at bay for a period of time (not that long), they come right back too. Mind you, so do the scorpions.

What we have, we only get in if the windows are open, so I couldn't say with certainty whether or not they're around during the hotter months. But if the windows are open and the kitchen lights on and the screens haven't been sprayed recently.... it's unbearable because the damn things have no sense of navigation and continuously zip right past your ears!
I dont find them in the sink much.
But they crawl around on the counter all the time.
Last night I found one in my bathroom That atleast doesn't usually happen.

Or you could take the sample to your county extension office. Give them a call and they should be able to help.
I did that once and the bug guy said he couldn't see anything in the container. I swear it was in there but it had died in there. I had that lid on as tight as could be.

How you tried calling your county extension office? They usually have somebody there ready to answer questions.

I worked a summer there when I was kid and there is always somebody on hand that knows bugs and how to get rid of them. But I'm also from an ag state.....

The fungus gnats I've had were mostly due to badly potted plants indoors.

Outside: Sometimes they seem to live in clouds (of gnats) under the trees.

Flease are very tiny, are they that small? Could they be roaches? Roaches come out and night, scatter when you turn on the lights, and love the kitchen because of the food.

Yes, very small- look like fleas. Certainly not roaches. Neither are good but the latter would be worse.

When I was in about 4th grade, my mom got me a microscope. We caught fleas off the cat & looked at them under the scope!

That's a good way to identify what you have... Lots of close up pics online... Maybe even a magnifying glass would help you...?
