Does anyone know if a rodeo is scheduled for the State Fair in G.I. this year? I would make a trip just for that alone, especially if it included a P.B.R event. Other events I would make the trip for: Drag races, MotoX, motorcycle flat track or 1/2 mile Sprint car.

Sounds as though the doom and gloom predictions that Fair would die in GI due to lack of attendance were off base.

According to reports there have already been several single day records and it sounds like the overall attendance will challenge for an overall record.

And although I didn't go myself, my family went and they claim its much better than Lincoln. They said the venues were better and the layout was improved.

As GI continues to build the permanent buildings and infrastructure for the fair, this venue will get even better. And just as I predicted the people in central NE have really taken ownership in the fair and have made it a success. And it will only get better.

So to all the pompous a$$es who have never even been to GI and predicted a complete failure I would like to take this opportunity to say "I told you so."

Look here JAckball, I may be a pompous A$$, but I've been to Grand Island. And let me say... WOW what a place!

Actually,... Stuhr Museum is Awesome!

But here's the deal I'm from Kearney originally, so it's like my goal in life to put down Grand Island. But I can say this for Grand Island, at least it's not Hastings. YUCK! Now THAT'S a shallow gene pool.

That may be but my criticism wasn't limited to you. The point is the state fair did very well in GI as many of us have said it would. Some just seem to think it was impossible for GI to put on a better event than Lincoln and I could not for the life of me figure out why they thought this. Most of them grew up in eastern NE and look at GI, Kearney, and Hastings as second class cities.

I grew up in northcentral NE, lived in Lincoln for 10 years and now live in Omaha. I love Omaha but get really annoyed when people dismiss the rest of the state as people so often do and in many cases the statements are made by people who have never been to GI or Kearney other than to pass by them on I-80.
