I haven't been to the museum in about a decade but over the last several years it has been having a lot of problems. One of them is annual attendance. Where at the start of the decade they were still pulling in over 100,000 in attendance, it has slipped to 40,000. Sad because its Americana in the truest sense of the word IMO.

Could you please give me the name of the Museum & address of its location. Maybe if people hear about this Museum they will make a point of visiting it.

Do you recall the entrance fee amount? Do they have a website? Thanks

... Here you go, countrylv22: Pioneer Village

... As DOUBLE H expresses, it's well worth the visit on multiple levels.

I've been to pioneer village twice and enjoyed both visits. There things to look at there that can not be found any where else. As an example, they have consumer electronics from the 60's and 70's that will really stimulate your memory. Things like refrigerators, VCR's, washing machines, etc.

I'd make more trips if it was 2 1/2 hours from my home.

Hi - glad to see a new post about Nebraska. Thinking about moving to western Nebraska. Love the wide open spaces! Spent the last 20+ years in western Montana. Beautiful country but hate mountain driving so much! I'm a white knuckle driver. Husband used to drive all the time but sadly he has passed.

In Sidney right now, nice town. Stayed a few days in Alliance as well. Going to look at a little house in Dix and check out Kimball tomorrow. Have family in Cheyenne but too big for me. Have read much in the city-data forums and always find people to be most helpful. Can anyone tell me a bit about Dix / Kimball please? Not so much statistics, weather, etc. Looks like both are farming / ranching. Does anyone know if hi-speed internet is available in Dix? It doesn't seem to be a problem anywhere nowadays but thought I'd ask. I work from home.

Thanks very much in advance!

Kimball is quite small, and full of friends you've not met yet. Dix is way smaller. Have sent you a personal message here regarding my thoughts about part of the panhandle area. Dix high-speed internet appears to be available: https://www.inmyarea.com/internet/69133/providers

Wishing you well in wherever part of western Nebraska you may choose.

Thanks so much for the quick reply Glu Glukan! I'm finding everyone I meet in the small towns of Nebraska to be so nice and friendly. Worked with a gal from Kearney years ago. She missed it terribly. Thanks for the info on high-speed internet, appreciate it.

Gosh, I think most of the Western part of Nebraska has dropped off into Purgatory.

My brother has travelled from west central Iowa a couple times to see Pioneer Village. He raves about it. I'll have to make a point to go that way one of these days and check it out. Their website indicates an interesting stop. I've been to the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, SD (on I-90). It's not bad but not too exciting.

I was a long haul trucker from 95 to 07. Use to get thru Nebraska quite often. Of all the states I drove thru and enjoyed Nebraska was my favorite for whatever reason. But no, I wouldn't want to live there. Too tied up in Wichita Falls down here in Texas. But I really did enjoy Nebraska.
