I call b.s on DTO Luv.& Just because someone fly's/wears a confederate flag doesn't label them a nazi ant-gay, or any other of that crap. If that's the case then i guess we can label all yankees thugs, hippies, and gays (of course not true).

Man O Man your just getting it from all sides.

Richardson County is not what you call a Cultural Center for Nebraska.

Does Verdon, NE have a statue of Larry The Cable Guy in the town square?

And before you say anything, I know Verdon,NE does not have a town square.

You think people act like that in Nebraska? Get off your but and go to a session of the Unicameral when they debate LGBT issues, or watch a video where people discussed the nondiscrimination ordinance there or the bigotry that surfaced at Omaha's public hearing, or the ignorance that surfaced during the Unicameral Judicial hearing on Marriage Equality. If you think Nebraska isn't full of ignorant bigots who treated Brandon Teena like crap, then you take the cake when it comes to ignorance and stupidity. #NoNebraska

A person holding a different opinion than yourself SurfOmaha does not make them ignorant or bigots.

The most backward places are the university campuses where if you don't subscribe to the "group think" you are shouted down, assaulted, or have your invitation rescinded to speak at a commencement address.

I was in the military and went directly to college after I was discharged, and have never met a more close minded group of people in my life

Duh-Ruh!!! What does make them bigots, and ignorant ones at that is the fact that they choose to remian ignorant about the LGBT community and instead hold their beliefs on a platform of lies, inaccurate information and outright hatred. Of all the signs in the Bible, somehow homosexuality is supposedly the only serious one? That, alone, demonstrates discrimination.

Close minded about what? While I am a Proud gay man and a Proud Progressive, I have noticed a significant amount of elitism and cliques in Omaha's Progressive groups and the LGBT community has its own fair share of ignorant idiots. But they are far from the real problems in Nebraska, its growing Tea Party binge and its remaining remnant of extreme right ignorant bigots and racists.
