Children's Health Magazine : Parents : The 100 Best (and Worst) Places to Raise a Family

I LOVE Lincoln, it's my hometown, but I'm honestly surprised it ranked so high. And I'm CERTAINLY surprised that it beat out Omaha.
Can't say I'm not proud though!

I figured Lincoln would be up there. I think all the crime in East O just ruined it for all of Omaha, whereas Lincoln just barely has crime. Both are great places for children, though. Having a big university within vicinity is a plus for high school students because of all those resources. The elementary schools, as far as I know, are in good condition and well-funded. Location in a state with a lot of arguably undeveloped land makes for good recreation opportunities. Lincoln has a population of 250,000 but it doesn't really feel urban - and that is attractive to families.

No surprise.
