We are thinking about relocating to Dayton. Can anybody tell me what shopping is there, and what banks? Thanks.

One grocery store, not sure of the banks, but if you want anything of value you need to travel to Carson City...approximately 15 mile away. Traffic cann be quite dense depending on time of day and relative locations.

I think there is a wells fargo ATM on the west side of town. Might be a bank of something in the grocery (Smith's ? ) on the East side.

"Shopping" in Dayton.... there's an antique shop. Wonder if it's still open. There is that little strip mall next to the casino. Never stopped, not sure what is there.

Default actually live in Dayton

OK, since I really live in Dayton, here's the scoop. Wells Fargo full service branch in the Smith shopping center. Also a Wells Fargo ATM in the same shopping center. Another Wells Fargo ATM in "downtown" Dayton. Bank of America ATM also downtown. Nevada Federal Credit Union and full service US Post Office near downtown.

Smith shopping center has the grocery store (open 24 hours), cleaners, Starbucks, UPS, Taco Bell, Jack-in-the-Box, casino with restaurant, hair salon, Great Clips and a few other stores.

It's 15 miles on the four lane into Carson City. And the heavy traffic is a figment of the other writer's imagination. Takes about 20 minutes to get into Carson.

If I could live anywhere in the Carson area (and I can), I would live in Dayton (and I do).

Default Dayton weather

If you go to weather.com, you can get weather information for Dayton. The zip code is 89403. Generally a little warmer and drier than Carson City since there is a small mountain range between Carson and Dayton that interrupts some of the rain/snow that comes off Lake Tahoe. Average yearly rainfall is about 11.5" -- most of it in the winter months. We had a total of about 8" of snow this past winter with the heaviest being about 4" on the ground at one time.

Dayton does not have much to offer and you will waste a lot of time and gas traveling to Carson and or Reno. I would chose Carson city. over dayton.

This thread is four years old, folks. O doubt the OP needs info any more, though it may help someone else now. . . or later.
