Never rely on F&G or LE opinions as legal advice (this is true everywhere in the USA). Fish & Game doesn't want people randomly shooting in the woods, so they point everybody towards the membership clubs.

You absolutely can shoot on private property, not in a compact area, with the landowner's permission. You may get arrested shooting on private property that is posted against trespassing if you do not have permission. But as an outsider you're not going to luck into a plinking pit that isn't posted and patrolled, so your best bet is to make a friend who is a member of a private range in the area you want to shoot.

Check the NRA gun club list.

Due to over crowding, IMHO anyway, we cannot shoot in Londonderry except in the Musquash Swamp and the Londonderry Gun club range.

The OP isn't looking to pay +$100/year to join a gun club, just wants a place to shoot on a weekend trip up to NH. Generally the only regular public use offered by the private clubs is shotgun, and that maybe one morning a week.

At least you have the Musquash, which I suspect is the only documented public outdoor range in S.NH still open to shooters.

There are many old gravel pits by me, all posted no trespassing
