Thanks, Valerie & J. Actually we are going through an architect - he's been building undergrounds since the '50s and he lives in Waterville Valley so he does understand the needs of things in NH. I imagine he's writing the contract? I know he has to pass the stuff the builders do, but it may not be as rigorous as JThibedeau is suggesting. Our guy is also a building inspector in his town, so he's got a lot of good things going.

Yes, we hope the house will be very energy efficient! it's why we'll need to be heating year round, but not much (unfortunately we'll also be facing west). I can't wait to have a cool house!!

Buck - Your paintings are beautiful! Do you do them from pictures, "live models" or from your "head" so to speak? Absolutely gorgeous!

Buck, those are lovely! I remember the portrait you photo'd for the photography contest. You are indeed talented.

hey thanks everyone - pictures sometimes - the girl on the horse is my niece.

others, like the belly dancer, is in my head...she is one of a set of three. I'm working on the last one now. I paint in spurts - I'll paint three at a time, sometimes, and then nothing for months. Everything you've ever heard about starving artists is true...LOL

I really admire people who can paint like that - especially from "pictures in their heads" type of things! You really have a gift buck!

Poker. Nice to have a hobby/endeavor that actually pays for itself (most of the time, anyway).

My most recent interest is smoking foods. I got a little smoker as a fathers day present and I put it to good use today.
I got up early and had a small turkey and a pork shoulder in the smoker all day. My wife "pulled" the pork and added some homemade BBQ sauce. We ate it on sandwiches topped with coleslaw and baked beans. Now everybody is napping with full stomachs listening to the rain. Perfect day.
Nobody touched the turkey (too full) so looks like smoked turkey sandwiches for lunch tomorrow.
