I love lobster, Linda does not, we are staying together for the sake of the animals

ROTFL!

Thanks to pp for the advisory link on red tide. We had leftover lobster last night, and I just left it. In fact, we decided not to head the heads after all. I'm not good at fishing meat out of the crevices, and after Lisa's remark about cockroaches it was hard to look at it

I love lobster; regardless of if they are the cleaners of the ocean floor or not!

I am soo excited to see 2-3 lb lobster for $6.99 a pound at the local market!

No worries! It's not the first time actually. I rarely eat lobster, so sometimes the visual gets to me This is probably why a lot of people stick to the tail and claws.

Nice! I've had so many bad experiences with Market Basket though that I hesitate to shop there for anything; that said- lobsters are alive in a tank, so its not like they won't be fresh.

I'm curious how the taste of lobster from a regular grocery compares with the really fresh lobster you get at a seafood-only shop? We've always bought ours at places that only sell seafood and get deliveries daily, and I've always heard that tastes better but can't confirm it. I've been told that the longer lobsters stay in the tanks, the less tasty they get. Anyone?

I've heard that as well, but haven't been able to confirm. The problem is I think most of the times I've had fresh lobster; the "situation" has contributed to its goodness.

For example- while sea-kayaking in Maine we boiled up some water, cooked lobster that was removed from the trap right off the island where we were camping (legitimately purchased from the lobster man), and ate it... it was the best lobster I've ever had. But I was also in the middle of Casco bay and enjoying some lobster as the sun set over the pine-laden islands and water around us.

My deck just doesn't have the atmosphere of the sea...and I think that hurts the experience slightly (although I've never had a 3 pounder...and think I may need to).

I am pretty sure that PSP is from last summer's warning...usually its in late July or August that it goes up.
