Hi there--
I am moving with my three school age children to NH from Ohio--My house sold quickly and we are planning on moving with 5 weeks. I am trying to narrow down some great school districts that offer a bit more diversity than Bedford and Amherst areas. I have liked what I have found re: the Concord school district but am curious what neighborhoods are most family friendly. Also, I am planning on renting for a year before buying and if anyone has any resources for finding a home to rent that would be really appreciated!!!

Thanks

Toledo....I have plenty of friends and relatives in Dublin. Hopefully you'll enjoy NH as much as I do.

Check out GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community for ratings on all the public schools in NH. I believe Bow is considered the best school district around Concord. The other town that has a great school system is Hollis.

You're not going to find a lot of racial diversity at any school in NH because the state is pretty white. And unfortunately, school performance is pretty well correlated with socio-economic status, so the "best" schools tend not to be schools with a lot of socio-economic diversity. That said, even wealthier towns sometimes have lower-income residents renting houses and apartments, so if you poke around you may find a school with the right balance for you.

BTW I'm a Buckeye too ...

That's pretty much it. One thing NH DOESN'T have is racial diversity. We looked at houses in Bedford, Bow, and Londonderry, and ended up in Bedford. We were moving for more affordable housing and good schools, and were willing to give up racial diversity to get it. That's okay though. There are other kinds of diversity besides race and we're discovering that
