Ok-- Willingboro, Burlington County

What is up with this place?? If you search out homes in the county, that town clearly stands out with cheaper homes. I've also heard people speak of the place like it's post WWII Berlin or something... Is it really that bad?! The homes on the MLS system look like they sit in quiet residential communities. Can somebody tell me what is so bad about that town? People on here have said that the town is "ghetto". I have a hard time believing that the middle of Burlington County is urban and scary!
Are the schools a joke or something??

willingboro's a real interesting place. it's a "levittown" (that was its original name), built post WWII and tons of middle class families moved in. over the years though people moved out and more undesirables moved in. now, it's pretty bad - definintely the worst in Burlington County but you'd never know it by driving around with all the colonials, capes, ranches etc. The school system is ABYSMAL. Crime is pretty high.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as "ghetto", but remember, there's a REASON housing is so cheap.

My husband grew up there and my in laws still live there. I'm there quite frequently. They've had their fair share of crime on their block, and my BIL's car was even shot once -

However, they have probably the best cheesesteak and sub place around - Gaetano's.

The greatest sub shop (except for White House in Atlantic City) in the state. It's 8am here now, and I could eat a chicken cheesesteak from that place right about now.

Willingboro is probably the most dangerous place in Burlington County. I personally would not want to live there.

It is mostly an African-American town as well, so you may feel out of place if you are not A.A.

i'll have to tell my husband about the White House - all cheesesteaks are measured against Gaetano's, and none even come close.

Willingboro is not the place you want to move too unless you want to get robbed or hurt. Too much crime there and the gangs from Camden and Trenton have made it there hub to spread their gang activity outwards.

How are the surrounding towns?? What are the best towns in the north or northeastern part of Burlington County. I'm fairly familiar with Mt.Laurel, Moorestown, Evesham, etc and that area.

I particularly like Chesterfield, and Florence, as well as Mansfield. There is still a hint of bucolic New Jersey to these places, which is more my taste. However, I suspect the close proximity these places enjoy to Rt 206 (and by extension, the NJ Turnpike) will turn many areas of these towns into ugly sprawl tracts, designed for people who want to live less expensively, and yet preserve their NYC-based salaries by commuting daily up the Turnpike.

Smile Yeah ok

Willingboro in the 70s was a post vietnam place to live.I grew up in the Boro.Every pool was open, every elementary school was open all year long. They would offer summer art classes for kids.I moved to Mt laurel and sold my house for a riduculous amount.Im back in the Boro temporarily.I have never had any problems in the boro ever.My house is twice the size and my yard is easily 3 times the size in Mt laurel.I have the best neighbors. My neighbor has been helping me cut my huge yard for over 10 years now.
Willingboro has no doubt some trash but I cant find a town that doesnt including Mtlaurel,Marlton....The town has had some greedy unskilled people in the township and school adminstration. They have caused and are responsible for a lot of the financial problems.
I think the police in Willingboro are nice and dont pull you over to pay for their overtime like some towns.I think they can easily pull more people over the way everybody speeds around here.
This is a decent town.I am more cautious only cause Im older and work around the incarcerated population. And guess what many people with violent crimes come from the best of towns.
The schools are in bad shape and I hope the teachers can hang in there.Tsk TSk for every one responsible for ruining the school system there.
I think Willingboro has a bright future.Lets face it its central to everything. The square footage and yards in comparison to the neighboring towns make it a great long term investment.
