It is mostly an African-American town as well, so you may feel out of place if you are not A.A.
Is it more dangerous than Burlington City?

Burlington Township is fine.

There is some newer housing (condos/townhouses) off Route 130 in the Willingboro Town Center area, where there is the Willingboro ACME and library.
http://syracusethenandnow.org/NewUrb...Many_Forms.htm

I've taken a class at the Burlington County Willingboro location, which is a new facility. That immediate area off Route 130 was decent. To get back to I-295, someone working there, told me a route, which was to take Levitt Parkway to JFK Way, to get to I-295. So, I went through the town roads to see Willingboro, and yes it's predominately African American. However, the green reminded me of Cherry Hill east, though with older smaller housing.

However, I found interesting was the number of McDonalds and other fast-food joint locations in the relatively suburban (not state road) intersections. In Cherry Hill, those comparable intersection locations are home to synagogues.

The area while somewhat midway between Cherry Hill and Lawrenceville, though closer to CH, has different demographics than most of suburban NJ (town's history has a large part to do with it), but its not urban like Camden or Trenton. It's quite green.

I think the Willingboro Town Center area may not be bad place for singles without kids, looking to commute to NE PA, or maybe even Central NJ, North Jersey, NY.

I would say Willingboro is better and safer then Burlington city.

If ya want a really safe town with great schools and fair prop taxes in Burlington county look at Cinnaminson. We love it here.

In fact I checked Pennsaken just for giggles and its number is 1507. Moorestown NJ is 462..

will- total crimes (violent and non)- 768
Cam- " " " " " - 6515
Cinna- " " " " " - 368 < extremely safe.

This came crom the website "NJ by the numbers". See? Its not even in the same league as Camden..

Thanks for posting. I love hearing stories about how terrible this or that town is compared to another and then when the stats come up they are practically identical or at least nowhere near the drama and hyperbole.

Willingboro has no doubt some trash but I cant find a town that doesnt including Mtlaurel,Marlton....The town has had some greedy unskilled people in the township and school adminstration. They have caused and are responsible for a lot of the financial problems.
I think the police in Willingboro are nice and dont pull you over to pay for their overtime like some towns.I think they can easily pull more people over the way everybody speeds around here.
This is a decent town.I am more cautious only cause Im older and work around the incarcerated population. And guess what many people with violent crimes come from the best of towns.
The schools are in bad shape and I hope the teachers can hang in there.Tsk TSk for every one responsible for ruining the school system there.
I think Willingboro has a bright future.Lets face it its central to everything. The square footage and yards in comparison to the neighboring towns make it a great long term investment.
Good info. I have family and friends in Willingboro and live here myself, it's nothing like Camden! I don't even drive through Camden anymore. I think it's good that people think it's so bad because maybe it will keep a lot of people out. I would love to avoid it becoming overcrowded anyway. Every city has crime... Every city! The crimes in Willingboro are mostly mischief and burglaries. Any crime is bad but I'd rather live with this than those areas with high murders and rapes, like Camden! But good post and info.. But I say let's just say it's as bad as a war zone like people think it is and then maybe we can keep some unnecessary people out!

No it's not like Burlington City or Camden. The schools are subpar but people here care about where they live and take care of their homes. Police work hard to keep the areas safe. There are quiet areas and more busy ones like most cities. Take a look for yourself and you will be surprised at how little people actually know about this city. Best wishes to you.

Thanks for your post it's informative and more accurate than a lot of others. It is better than Burlington city but the schools desperately need a major overhaul! I think Cinnaminson is nice too, it's really close but the schools are better there, I'm sure.

Is Burlington City actually bad? I drove through it a few times, saw lots of nice old architecture and some stores and restaurants, mix of black, white, and hispanic folks. Didn't seem particularly affluent, but I didn't get an unsafe vibe.

Well it isn't good. I never really felt threatened there, but it looks pretty rundown along Rt 130. Of course it is nothing like Camden, but it is definitely inner-city.
