You do NOT want to live there. Way too much crime. In the 30+ years I have lived in South Jersey, Camden has just continued to go downhill. It is very sad.

I had to photograph some head starts in Camden for their kindergarten graduation. At the first school I had a cop ask me why I was driving around (I was trying to find parking). I had to show him my job sheet. The director said he probably was wondering if I was suburban housewife buying drugs.

The second school I went to I had to step over a homeless person to get in the door. The director came out and cursed at him and started kicking him before he left. As I was taking photos the teachers were talking and one of them told the other that this was probably the only graduation these kids would see in their lifetime.

In between the boarded up or burned out houses are people trying their best to make a home. The only time I felt safe in Camden was when I had jury duty and if we went to the aquarium.

Camden has a loooong way to go to get out of it's quagmire.

When I was doing my nursing school clinicals, I was assigned to a visiting nurse association. The visiting nurses had to have police escorts. What does that tell you?

Camden is the most dangerous city in the US. Besides being dangerous, it's just a depressing area in general.

Unfortunately Camden is likely one of the worst small cities in the United States in terms of crime and poverty. It makes Newark look appealing.

If you had to walk from one side of the town to the next side in broad daylight there is a 99% chance you will die.
