Are theater shows cheaper? Does philly even have theaters? Do fun things like dinner and a show cost signifigantly less or slightly less?

I hear that some parts of the city still don't have running water or electricity...

Number 1 benefit, not having to deal with New Yorkers on a regular basis

and why wouldn't Philly have theaters? I mean really, what major city doesn't have a theater? I'd be shocked if there was one.

Merriam Threater? Kimmel Center ? I'm probably missing some theaters or venues that showcase acts and whatnot in Philly.

We have a few theaters up here in Scranton/W-B...

Agreed with the not having to deal with NYers comment.

Parking seems to be a bigger nightmare in philly than nyc. When I viseted a couple of years ago cars were double parked everywhere

Most of the things you ask about will probably not be significantly cheaper. The major savings is in the cost of housing. If you live closer to Philly, you're more likely to have enough money left over after paying your rent or mortgage to actually enjoy these things.

You right about that but it seems to me rentals are harder to come by and I'm guessing its because people stay longer in their homes
