The more realistic number is $$80k,$$90k, and above $$100k, BASE, with Superintendents well above $$200,000.
Throw in benefits/pensions/vacation, and that number is quite larger.
You can twist and turn all you want, but the numbers are right there - unless you forgot how to count, education being second priority and all after salary.
"It's for the kid$$$"
Found one!!! Yes I knew I could. Harrison,NJ 42k I guess they are getting rich. I actually know this person quite well. Lower her salary!!
"its for the kids" no no no its about making and doing your job while you are at it. I love the spin. Teachers would not do it for free. Just like a Doctor wouldnt save lives for free. Sorry we live in a society where money is actually important.
Step 1) Under "Job Title" Click the drop down box for "Teacher"
Step 2) Find someone with a salary of $50,000 as you claim. (Hell, find someone making $60,000)
Step 3) Post the actual row number so we can see that YOU ARE NOT LYING.
Step 4) You're welcome for the Excel lesson - where's my subsidized benefits?
Most are making $90k plus and over $$100,000 BASE (more when you account for benefits/pension)
Remember, post an actual row number showing the $50,000 Teacher salary that you've claimed. Are you capable of using hard numbers in a discussion or do you stick to vague one liners? I've provided you the data, what more do you need (besides more taxes for your pension)?
I agree with capping the salary at $175,000 (with the exception being in cities). That is more then enough.
But how much money is it going to save your average tax payer? The SI in the town I live in makes $240K per year. A $65K savings is a drop in the bucket.
I understand that it's a place to start but at the same time it's not going to reduce the percentage of my property taxes that goes to public education, which last year was close to 7K.
NJ needs to find another way to pay for public education other than solely through property taxes.
Its the hypocrite who goes DIRECTLY after the person who is making the $165K a year. Criticizing the job description of the person making the $175K. Those critics are the hypocrites.

You can whine & protest about salaries. But please, don't label yourself as some " ConserAvative Republicans who believes in the Free Economy & does not want Gov't to Interfere.
But we're talking about NJ and what public educators and those employed by the public education system that is funded by NJ taxpayers property taxes make in a year PLUS their pensions, etc. Not Joe Jobby who works in a Free Economy where goods and services are bought and sold freely in an open and free market. NJ property taxpayers HAVE to fund, are FORCED to fund public education - including these salaries.

They are no different than their liberal opponents who want equality.
You mean re-distribution of wealth?

If their adult son or adult daughter was the one who got an M.S. or a PHD & got a job at Millburn or Bernardsville paying $185K, you think these people who be whining.
I'm not really sure what you mean here, but let me tell you why I whine. I don't send my kids to public school. Never have and never will. My choice...but I still get stuck with a huge portion of my property taxes going over to the public schools in the town and it only INCREASES every year. And what about Seniors or those who don't have children? Why should they be forced to contribute? It's not like every state in the union funds public schools through property taxes so it's not like it can't change and shouldn't.

It many many cases, its the people who NEVER bothered to go to college, NEVER Bothered to go for a Career track that eventually had a 6 figure potential who are the LOUDEST whiners.
So you think most people who don't make what an SI makes or protests ridiculous salaries for jobs that aren't necessary are uneducated and don't make more than $250K a year? What would make you think that?

You are no different than a socialist or a liberal who is protesting pay equality.

If superintendents can almost as much money,w/o the headaches of living in New Jersey and the ADDITIONAL headaches of running New Jersey schools, why won't they?
It may seem like $250k is a lot,but considering that a doctorate is required for the position and the fact that superintendents are responsible for THOUSANDS if not tens of thousands of employees and students,is it really that much?
