Hello,

I am moving to New Jersey. I have few questions about Ridgefield Park NJ

0. How is this area in terms of safety. Myself and my 6 yr old daughter are going to stay most of the times. My husband will be travelling on weekdays.
1. Which are the good apartment complexes in this area. I am looking for the rental range from 950 to 1100.
2. How long does it take to commute to Port Authority from Ridgefield Park NJ by NJ Transit bus/train..
3. Howz Indian community over there.. Also would like to know what the options for grocery (any walmart, target, shoprite, Indian grocery store - and how far it is?)
4. Howz the public transport over there?
5. What are the option (other neighbouring cities) near by with good elementry school and easy commute to NYC Port authority.

Thanks, Rash..

RP is a nice little town. I lived there for a short period of time and spent a great deal of time there both when I lived there and when I didn't. A large # of my friends were born and raised there, and some still live there.

As far as I know, it's a safe town. There is no crime-filled section of town, nor does the town attract a high amount of crime. There is a lot of second generation people and families there as well.

Regarding the rental opportunities -- there are several. A very good friend of mine had a nice little place on Christie Street, at the eastern-most end. Take Christie St. east as far as you can go and you will run into the complex. Just north of it, on the other side of the ballfield is another complex that the same landlord owns. He had a 1BR in the first one, and another friend had a 2BR in the second one. There's some other buildings, multi-units, etc. and a high-rise (on the main street, although I have no idea if it's a rental), although these are the two that I know well. There is also a very good # of 2 family (+) homes.

As far as the Indian population and schools, I really can't speak to that. Public transportation is very good with buses and bus lines. Shopping is very good as well, both in town and nearby. Good luck.

ditto on this post this is exactly what Ridgefield Park is. No bad crime in Ridgefield Park, actually some areas are very Italian old neighborhood style. Its a fine little town!! Close to everything, its a good choice! To be honest I bet one day it will be a very desirable town due to LOCATION!! Route 80/46/close to Turnpike and route 4. Believe me another up and coming little town.

Safety is not an issue its safe. Now for a better idea, RIdgefield park has tons of two family archey bunker style homes. Instead of renting in an apartment complex, I would go for a two family home rental bottom floor!!! The neighborhoods with the two family are a lot nicer than a crappy apartment complex and Ridgefield Park is alot of two family homes. This is much more of a nice stable owning a home style atmosphere and less chance of roaches coming into your tv set!!! Less personalities to deal with in a two family home than a big apartment complex. You will always find losers in apt. complex type places.

Honnestly, I think that Nutley is a better choice overall.

Great advice... I grew up in RP in a two-family and it enabled my parents to be very well-off later in life. Very smart advice during this economic time.
