A few members think its shrinking , the Urban areas seem to be growing at a rapid pace. At least the Major cities like Newark , Jersey City , Hoboken , Bayonne , Elizabeth , Rahway , Linden , Woodbridge etc , only a few cities have shrunken like Camden , Paterson , Summit... The population also seems to be growing along Railway corridors or near direct bus lines to Urban Jersey / NYC.
What do you think?

One source indicates, according to their study of IRS data (1993-2008), NJ is an outflow state.

TaxProf Blog: State Migration Trends, 1993-2008: From Blue States to Red States

Check with the census website and see what it says.

I agree with you Nexis that it seems to be growing at least along the cities and towns bordering the NYC metro area or the place with direct transit to NYC. But I think overall its getting offset by how many from west, central, and south Jersey are leaving. I think its a wash maybe leaning more toward the shrinking side.

Shrinking....yes it is growing along the transit lines for NYC etc but that still doesn't make up for the exodus of upper middle class and above driven away by high taxes...

Really Nex you're keeping this poll going until 12/12/2012...over two years

We'll probably know best for sure when result of 2010 census go public. IRS tax return is bit unreliable for states like us since there are fairly large population of folks who don't pay taxes that wouldn't be counted for this data but will be for census if they did participate and didn't freak out & hide.

Agreed, and we know there's plenty of them out there. Its especially easy to hide in the urban areas too
