There are four reactors in two seperate sites in NJ (not counting the research reactor at Princeton University or their tokamak fusion reactor). The one site is called Oyster Creek and is located in Forked River on the Barnegat Inlet. That plant is also the oldest nuclear plant in the country it came online in 1969. The other three are all located on an artificial island in the Delaware River/Bay. One of the reactors there is called Hope Creek (online in 1986) and the other two are known as Salem Nuclear (online in 1977 and 1981). Just to stir the pot, the Hope Creek plant is of the same design as the Fukushima I reactor in Japan that is making all the headlines, though something tells me 9.0 earthquakes and tsunami's are rather rare events in NJ.

The oyster creek one in staten island is awfully close to major population centers. Luckily east coast has been relatively stable and disaster free historically from mother nature's wrath.
I wonder if the US would responded better than the japanese in this situation, it's crazy that you cannot stop the reactors for weeks after you completely shut it down, never knew that.
