The conductor supervisor won his job back and damages and back pay after the gubmint rushed to fire him. I remember this case. To be politically correct they rushed to fire this guy for burning pages of the Koran. We let people burn American flags but if the Koran is involved we rush to do something. They now have to give him 25K in damages and about 100K in back pay. The article is in todays NY Times.

AMAZING! I would classify this as government ineffectiveness and short-sightedness. While not CRIMINAL, I would love it if society could find more balanced leaders who would resist the "shoot from the hip, and ask questions later" mentality.

It's a shame that commuters (I imagine NJT has to pay for this, which ultimately means the working class commuter) will now have to pay for this botch.

FWIW, I won't link to NY Times articles anymore ... will not give them the free advertising since they went to a "pay" scheme. Hopefully, the free-market will make THEM rethink their philosophy, in the same way that this very story shows an "about-face".

So no ... I haven't read it yet, for the details. I'm sure it will appear in a Reuters or AP article in the not-too-distant future

Yea, but he brought all that upon himself. He knew that people will hate him for his actions. It's expected risk. Him being fired for it, on the other hand, seems silly.... unless he stole someone else's koran and burned it.

Still, he, you, I or anyone has the right to do that. It's called freedom of expression and freedom from oppression. Also it was mentioned that even the Muslims did not want him to lose his job.
