I'm going to be relocating out to the New Jersey area in the several weeks to work in Warren, NJ just off I-78. Is it feasible to get a place in Hoboken, NJ and commute each morning? How bad is the traffic in rush hour both heading west (in AM) and east (in PM)?
AM is easily , PM can be a pain. But why Hoboken , why not Morristown or Somerset , or Summit? Warren is Western Jersey , Hoboken is Urban Jersey , 1.3 hrs apart , 2hrs max....? If its because NYC is nearby , that gets old after a few months....
Like the town. Like the nightlife. I'll take recommendations though with a $1600 budget. I've already looked at Morristown and there wasn't much availability for my price range except like <500sft places.
I'm 24m, that wants a safe town, <30 min to Warren, NJ 07059 and with some good bars/nightlife to meet people.
Have you tried New Brunswick? Its a small city like Hoboken but less rowdy in the summer time , its a college town.... Only 30 mins from Watchung , its got a very diverse population. A train line to NYC , and its 30 mins away from the decent beaches...
Warren near Watchung, NJ...not all the way out west. Mapquest says its only 38 minutes from Hoboken to Warren, NJ 07059.
Is that what you are referring too? If not, then what would you estimate travel times being...Thanks!
trust me that mapquest is BS I know I tried!!!!!! Nexis is right however you still have a rail line well indirectly via a connection from a bus called 986 http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0986.pdf take it in either direction to either plainfield or summit to get the train at AM you can get express trains. However check the schedule to see if you are walking distance from 986 if you are then you are lucky!!! With this bus you have access to 2 RAIL LINES Not just 1 but 2 rail lines depending on the direction you take the bus. If you get plainfield then you have RVL if you get summit bound then you get the morristown line. The reality is the choice is urs either way you still get to hoboken. One more thing Rail passes are honored on ALL NJT buses. However for NY buses you need a rail pass to NY penn rather than hoboken. But hoboken pass still gets you all the lines you will need including the 986 also this bus meets trains too.

Those beaches will soon be accesible by rail via MOM but the coast line or highways are good.
thanks for the posts guys. any other recommendations out there ? I've nixed the Hoboken preference and have been looking in Summit, NJ (<30 min to Hoboken via train) and Edison? Good places?
Budget is $1600 max.
Also is it worth waiting out on a place in Morristown, NJ close to "the green" for a few weeks until its available?
