Thanks

You pay the taxes/fees in the state you register the car. So, if you live in NJ and will register the car here, than it all comes down to the price of the car you are looking for. Sometimes you can snag a good deal out of state that makes the cost of buying there worth it.

If you have the option of registering the car in either state, than it all comes down to taxes/fees and insurance. I don't know what those would be like in Miami, but a couple phone calls would probably tell you which state would be more affordable to register and insure the car in as well as the legality of doing so if the other state isn't your primary residence.

i looked into buying a car from FL. it would have been a lot of work to go get it and bring it home.

taxes and fees would be paid wherever you register it.

You would expect that the car in FL, if it was kept mostly in the South would not have much rust or corrosion. It comes down to the car itself, but usually in the Southern states you don't see much corrosion or rusting in older cars.

...except for those FL cars that were constantly parked near the ocean.
Many of them look worse than cars from the Northeast.

the guts of a used car from Florida will almost always be better than one from NJ. the downside is, the paint will be faded, the dashboard will be faded, etc.

but with the better guts, you could spend some money on a paint job if you care. much better to paint a car than to have to replace shocks, exhaust, etc.

The one in Florida I'm assuming wouldn't be able to be inspected by you or driven prior to purchase...that alone would make it a no-go for me.
