My husband and I live in Brooklyn and have for a while now, but we both need a change of scenery. Crime is getting bad where we are and we want a bit more of a suburban life, especially since we're expecting our first baby in November. We've lived in Black/Caribbean/Hispanic areas and we really want a change from that as well (it's just too loud, etc.). We just got a car, which helps, but we don't know what areas are good in North Jersey. My husband works in the city so the commute can't be too long. Anything near-ish public transportation would be a plus but not a necessity. Nothing crazy expensive either, we aren't doctors or lawyers.

I appreciate any advice or info. Thanks!

where does he work in the city. If midtown higher I would not go with the towns the realtor suggested as they are far out unless by train. And what is your budget.

For one job he works in the East Village and for the other (he does real estate in NYC) he's all over. Budget is tough...we're hoping for a max of $1600.

How many BR's you looking for? You want a downtown(or none), or mall(s)? Small amount of land or spread out? Mountain/isloated area or busier?
