I am sure if I can get away without using dumpster rental.
I plan to do the following within 3-4 weeks for a 2500 square feet single house.

1. complete kitchen upgrade
2. replace carpets at both floor
3. two bathrooms remodeling

My concern there will be a lot of old stuffs thrown out within 3-4 weeks so they may not be accepted by regular trash pickup

1. should I check with township for bulk pickup first?
2. anyone has used dumpster rental so how much it may cost?

thanks for sharing any tips.

You can check with the town, but it's not likely they will pick up renovation debris. Also check what permits are needed.

It really depends on the extent of your renovations. Are you tossing bath tubs, toilets, kitchen cabinets, appliances with that carpet?

A 30 cu yard dumpster in our area was around $500.00. It was completely filled with the exterior cedar shakes from our 2400 sq. foot house.

The 10 cu yard dumpster was $300.00.

are you doing this yourself? If not contractor should provide dumpster and dispose for you.

We rented a dumpster for a bathroom renovation. The dumpster company was going to charge me a daily rate. When my bathroom contractor showed up, he got the dumpster company to forgo the daily rate and changed it to a flat rate. Not sure what that was all about, but it seems the dumpster company was trying to take advantage of me, the contractor set them straight. Just an FYI.

Get the bigger one, just in case. I have always found that the neighbors will have things they want to ditch too. Either split it with them or just let them through stuff in when you are done and earn some good will

I would definitely check with the town to see what's allowed or not in your regular pickup. But probably you will need some alternative, at least for the heavy stuff.

I've seen ads on TV the past several months for something called a BAGSTER ... sort of a flexible foldable dumpster. I have no experience with them, but maybe you should include it in your searches.

Good luck!

Depending on where you're located, some neighbors may fill that dumpster for you (with their stuff) if you keep it for a month! Guard that dumpster carefully!

I agree.

Strange things may appear over night. They can be large and heavy. Eventually this may cost you. It is amazing the gall of some people.

If possible place it well out of sight from the road. If not, at least make it difficult to back a car or truck up to it easily.
