A lacrosse or indoor soccer team yes. Anything else? LOL. Unless one of the Philly teams is contracted or moved. And the state already has an NHL team.
I answered yes because South Jersey already largely supports the major sports teams in Philly. I don't think it could support a competitive franchise to one of the Philly teams, but it could certainly support one of the teams moving across the river. In fact, there has been talk of that several times, especially with the Flyers before they built the *insert bank name here* Center.
there already was a pro LAX team - the NJ Pride, played at Rutgers. They folded in 2008 (along with many others). however, LAX has had a resurgence so who knows. I'm not sure South Jersey is a LAX bastion though, like LI and Maryland.
who wants more sports teams? a bunch of guys running around with a ball, hitting a ball, throwing a ball through a hoop. just a waste of time.
It's fun to watch and talk about, builds community/city/regional pride, and is a huge industry worth lots of money. The world is better off with professional sports.

"the guys on my team can run with a ball better than the guys on your team!"
Well, you know, professional sports leagues like to use the term "market size," but then they turn around and give the lie to their own policy by putting an NBA team in a city like Orlando--which is definitely not among America's major metropolitan areas. The Magic is there because of Disney World, which attracts large numbers of people from all around the world.
So there's no reason to think a pro league couldn't put a team in Atlantic City using that same logic. Is it likely to happen? Probably not; but it certainly could be done.

What would you like to discuss instead, politics? "My politicians take in more bribes than yours!"
People have hobbies, and sports is a big one. And it's big business. Now if you had the power to mandate that all the money people spend on sports should be spent on cancer research instead, I would support that. But that's not reality. People enjoy sports, so let them enjoy it, no need to be so negative just because you don't like something.
