ok I need to intervene.

First of all, Montclair has some good shops, but if you really just want to grab a good cup of coffee, go to Beans Choice on Church Street. But you are looking for something fancy I assume, so your pretentious tone is understood.

People here know sure what "proper coffee" is, or good coffee, and places do exist, but there are (like mentioned earlier), a lot of Starbucks here. And, not for nothing, they do have good coffee, you just need to get the right person to make it (I worked for them for 5.5 years, and this is a rule that i believe in greatly).

You mentioned earlier that some where you saw that someone sold "LaVazza" or whatever, and that sparked your interest. You are commenting on how you would be interested in a place that sells LaVazza, but yet wonder why people dont know "proper coffee"? That is a contradictory statement. LaVazza sucks. If you want LaVazza, go to any pizza shop near you, and ask for some espresso. Most of them serve it, and all of them serve LaVazza. Hows that coffee snob? Pizza shop coffee.

Also, don't make generalizations "there are a lot of Italians here, didn't they invent the cappuccino". What the Hell! Why is this even allowed?! Maybe if you were in ITALY, not NUTLEY, NJ, which yeah sure has Italians, or should I say Italian Last names, but that doesn't mean they can make a MEAN CAP, I mean for heavens sake, I have an Italian Last name, but there isn't a lick of Italian in me!

And also, the "center of the world" is not 8 miles away. I am assuming youre talking about NYC. This is a misconception. NYC is great, yeah sure, its a novelty, especially to someone who has lived here their whole lives, and I surely do not want NYC overflowing into and already too crowded area, anymore than it already has. The attitude about it being the center of the world, and no body knows what proper coffee is, is not only offensive, but down right ignorant. Maybe people in NYC are too busy doing other, more constructive things, than becoming coffee connoisseurs.

Sorry I am so angry. Something about this post really pissed me off. If you want to drink your "proper" coffee, go buy a damn espresso machine and pull your LaVazza shots at home... If you want a real cup of coffee, go somewhere that sells and Organic Fair Trade blend from South America. Those are always the best, cant go wrong. http://www.vermontcoffeecompany.com/ has great coffee for good prices, and you can make it home, all nice a "proper" like you like.

I just realized, that I got really angry over coffee at 10:00 in the morning. I am going to assume its because 2 weeks ago I had to stop drinking coffee because I have developed severe stomach problems, and I am sad, and bitter. wah

Sorry if I irritated anyone. I just miss a good ol' cup of joe. Obviously, I am just as snobby when it comes to coffee as I was trying to make you out to be. Hahaha. Oh boy. Its going to be a long day.

No worries my friend. I really am going to try all of the recommended places from this thread and report back in case you fall off the wagon.

I spent most these posts tongue in cheek with sweeping statements. Sorry if I offended.

As I have found, La Vazza is great, at Eataly. Otherwise, I have not enjoyed it. I have found that the machine that makes it, water used, and worker making it, and cup it's served in make more difference than the beans themselves.

Starbucks is good, but honestly, it is like old reliable and nothing special. Especially since they don't have normal "for here" cups, only mugs. I like that the new CEO is having them go back to basics and spend more time making the drinks. The quality has gone up. Maybe I'll just bring my own cup. Then i'll be the biggest coffee dork in Nutley

Best coffee? Home made bustelo with frothed milk. If you wanna travel, go to Cuba bakery in Union city. Best cafe con leche and/or espresso ever! Did I mention it's only $1?
