Marlboro is expensive, not really affluent. The people there are working class dumb-Brooklynite transplants who sue other people to get wealthy AFTER they have purchased their McMansion which is unfurnished and unfinished on the inside. They all drive $75K cars (or SUVs), but none of them actually "own" any of them.

East Brunswick, Highland Park, Metuchen and West Windsor-Plainsboro are all ranked far better than Marlboro. Just look at the NJ Monthly school rankings. It is disgusting over there. Glorified white trash.

Parts of Old Bridge and Spotswood are "worn out" too. I do not think either has slid as far as Sayreville though. Spotswood HS is ranked better than both OB and Sayreville HSs.

Spotswood is too small to get really worn out. It's basically East Brunswick and Monroe's appendix.

@ fsu1211 - Did you end up buying something at Townelake. Would like to know your experience. We are looking to buy something there as well. Please share your experience.

We didn't (FSU is my husband). We really didn't get far in conversations because we decided Sayreville wasn't for us. In our one conversation with them they were adamant they wouldn't drop the base price but they would include incentives (upgrades).

@ Lauren.

Thanks for the reply. I guess that's the catch here. They don't reduce the base price no matter what. And considering their incentives obliges you to go through their lender even though you might get a better rate outside.

Yup - I saw you made another post about this as well. My husband and have been doing extensive research on Middlesex county. I know schools aren't of immediate concern for you but we went to the elementary school by Townelake. I wasn't overly impressed. We did like the principal but she about to retire. They do have the best 3rd grade test scores Sayreville. I didn't like the fact there was no fields or grass for the kids, only the black top. Also the road by the school will eventually be connected to Townelake so all the kids will be "walkers" - could be good or bad depending how you look at it. Also make sure you are comfortable with the Winding Woods apartment complex in Sayreville - some crime there, not the best part of town - 5,000 people in Sayreville live there. We are ultimately going with Old Bridge or Monroe Township.
