Is there any rule that says , If I live in a particular county in NJ , I need to get my car registered in that specific county office ?? I have the same question for an out of state driving license . Can I go to the neighbouring county's DMV /MVC office ? I am fairly new to all this

You can go to whatever DMV is convenient; it doesn't matter where you register, it is based on your license and home address.

If you live anywhere near Bayonne, go to that location. I was out with a set of plates for my new car inunder 10 minutes. There is never a line there which is a good thing.

With NJ in debt up to their nose, it will never stop. They get you any way they possibly can. What do you get for the additional registration fee? People that speak English at the DMV?

It's still cheaper than a lot of other states, and it was quite nice for me moving from Virginia where:

- Registration was about $30 higher than NJ (for me anyway)
- State inspections were not free like they are in NJ, and
- there's a state property tax on vehicles
