It seems that I will be making a new thread every week or so until I move, because random stuff keeps popping in my head to ask.

Anyway, what are some restaurants you guys would recommend? They don't have to necessarily be expensive. I'm just wondering about places with interesting history, good reputation, etc. I figure some locals will be able to help me out.

i like turkish kebobs as well, try alaturka in patterson.

I'm going to look into all of these, and Turkish food, huh? I've never had Turkish food, so that should be interesting.

Patsy's Tavern in Paterson.....legendary (and safe, for those of you who don't know much about the Silk City). Very old school experience. Fun. Gets very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings.
